Unlocking The Bible: A Unique Overview of the Whole Bible Reviews
I do see this book as a study tool. The language and logic is so clear and straightforward. I can't wait to share this with friends of mine who are new to studying the Bible. I will have to get another copy for my bookshelf because this one is going to get worn out quickly. I discovered Pawson's lessons on YouTube & then checked out more on his website. When I ordered this book, I didn't realize how big it is. What I am going to enjoy is using the book along with the videos and the info on Pawson's site. Since I have questioned some of Pawson's views on a few things, I mentioned that concern to my pastor who had wonderful advice: As with any information - even from my pastor - I should appreciate the efforts but test everything by Scripture. (I saw that another reviewer here or elsewhere said that Pawson himself encourages this method.) What I do appreciate very much is having this information as a tool in my Bible study. I don't think that any other lecturer or writer has stoked such a renewed interest in my studies. Instead of just reading passages as part of different reading plans, I am actually paying attention to the meaning and backdrops. This is, of course, what I should always have done, but Pawson really highlights the beauty of the Book and has pointed me to so many of the gems I glossed over. I highly recommend this to anyone - Christian or not. I have included some photos of the book so that people can see the size of it. the print is very easy to read.
David Pawson brings so much to light in his presentation. He teaches the Bible as truth, not myth or made up stories. I am using the book along with the video series as a teaching tool. He has his own youtube channel and all videos can be viewed there. There are 60 covering the Old Testament alone at about 35 minutes each! We have all levels of maturity at our gathering, and everyone is discovering new nuggets about our beloved Lord and His book. Having a science background has also added to his teaching along with his knowledge of other cultures and belief systems. I have studied and taught the scriptures for about 45 years and enjoy his research and highly recommend anything done by David Pawson..
Very easy to read and really brings out things such as the format of a book in the bible, writing style. Brings to light many things the you would normally overlook. I think this book is a great reference for bible teachers teaching any age. This book will stay in my library. Highly recommended.
I LOVE this book! I have been watching his YouTube videos and this book just cements what I have learned from those videos. Love his writing style - so very easy to understand and the background and history makes everything make sense and fit together.
David Pawson, one of the UK's most respected and long-standing prophetic teachers and church leaders, has packed into this book years and years worth of gems gleaned from his study and personal preparation for his teaching ministry. Not exactly a traditional bible commentary, but rather a well thought out introduction and overview and background to each book, author, and section of the bible. Amazing value for money for it's 1,050+ pages, definitely more gems per buck (and per page) than any other Christian book I've ever opened, this book will really help even the most mature Christian gain more understanding, revelation and background about each section of each book of the bible as well as being a wonderful introduction to the scriptures for anyone.
Pawson has a wonderful series of videos on youTube that give an intro to each book of the Bible, which is really needed since the basics of reading this "library" - the foundation of science, equal rights, abolition, and essentially the best parts of the modern world - is not taught in school anymore. However, the book is not the video series transcribed, as he took pains to make it, well, a book rather than a transcription. The format and content are different for each delivery method.
