I found this book to not only be informative, well written, and well researched but entertaining. The author's use of humor throughout took the edge off of some really hard truths about the world of Christian religion as we know it. I have been recommending the book to seminary students and anyone who just in general is tired of finding out that things they have believed for years may be wrong. If you are a lemming, this book is not for you. If you are a progressive thinker who likes to actually learn things, well then, this is the book you need to buy.

A priest (or whatever) who reads and thinks about what he reads. Whoda thunk it?

The author reaches back in time to help us understand why we believe what we believe. This book is full of information to get the reader thinking about their faith. Entertaining, thought provoking, at times humorous. How did the church get to where they are today? What is "the church"? Why do you believe what you believe about your faith? What is the "rapture"? If you want to know the answer to these questions and many more, you need to read this book! "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

This book was a completely unexpected treasure! Aside from the fact that is extremely well written, it is a personal challenge to everyone who questions the issues of life. I highly recommend it to all "spiritual" thinkers.

Very good book that forces the reader to reconsider the theology of his upbringing. Christian does a very good job in laying out the argument and stating the facts.

Joshua Christian comes across as a genuinely good man. His personal belief drives him to not just act in the politically correct Christian way, but to do good for others and strive to live out the Golden Rule of Love Thy Neighbour. He is an enquiring beleiver who has done extensive and interesting research into the origins and tenants of christianity. He is especially critical of those to the left and right of his position. He regularily trounces the Catholics and treats the evangalists of greed with equal contempt. Throughout the book he exposes Christianity to be the man made farce that it is. He is easily able to see through the dogged stupidity behind Catholic doctrines such as the Holy Trinity and Virgin Mary, or the fraudulent use of tithing by evangelists, but he is unable to visualise a world without a personal god.

I'm a thinker - I can't help it. I have been taught my entire religious life that 1 + 1 = 4, and quite frankly, I've never been comfortable with it. Sometimes, things just don't make sense and I've been made to feel unworthy of His love for even thinking about questioning the "truth." LOL, its kind of like that old Candid Camera bit where a person walks into a room full of people staring up at the ceiling. They don't know why but they stand there like an idiot and stare at the ceiling too. Come on, are you really that stupid? Well I'm not, and reading this book helped me in numerous ways to better understand some rather sensitive subjects that I was "taught" throughout my life to overlook.

The Book is an excellent read, full of information and hard facts. The author makes bold steps to seperate fact from fiction. Joshua Christian has written this book in a manner that will excite, inform and open wide the eyes of many Christians. I have enjoyed the book a great deal it has given me a lot of new information and a lot of new insites. If you ever wondered why certain biblical truths are accepted and never explained, then this book is exactly what you've been waiting for.
