Memoirs of a Hamster Reviews
So I fell in love with Memoirs of a Goldfish a few years ago. I bought it for every new baby that came along. I even read it to adults. So when I saw the author had written a new book, I was both happy and trepidatious. Would the new book live up to my expectations? I just bought it for Christmas for my 3 year old little boy. We read it together last night. LOVED IT! Whew! My high expectations were met. Seriously, this author writes the best children books that aren't just for children!
This is for Memoirs of a Hamster- I am a fan of Tim Bowers art, so that was a big draw for me(pun), but when I read it, the story was strong enough to keep me interested!
Purchased Memoirs of a Goldfish first. Grandkids love it. Sent them this one but the Mom said it wasn't as good as the first
My first graders LOVE this book! Great story and superb illustrations! I own all 4 books in this series.
After reading Memoirs of a Goldfish, I just knew we would love Memoirs of a Hamster. Memoirs of a Hamster does not flow as well as the Goldfish book and I was really disappointed. It was still a cute book, but if I had been able to look through it first, we definitely wouldn't have purchased it.
I was hoping this book would be just as good as Memoirs of a Goldfish and to my astonishment, it is even better! My son and I are huge fans of Memoirs of a Goldfish. I haven't read this one to him yet, thinking about surprising his first grade class with this book because it is so funny. Love it when the little girl gives him a kiss and he says, "Nasty!" Written in the same style as Memoirs of a Goldfish but instead of Day 1, it's Night 1, since hamsters are nocturnal.
If you haven't read this book, or the Memoirs of a Goldfish book, you're missing out. I love reading both to my kids and doing voices and such to keep them entertained- both are VERY well done. I am hoping more will come in the future.
I absolutely adore this book and reading it to kids. I have read this book to first and second graders for two years and the kids cannot get enough of it. The pictures are bright and colorful and the message is in the book teaches a valuable lesson to appreciate and enjoy the things you have.
