God Is Not Mad at You: You Can Experience Real Love, Acceptance & Guilt-free Living Reviews
Joyce Meyer has delivered a book with a much-needed and potentially life-changing message: God is not mad at you. Really? If only we could believe it! Such a revelation would change our lives forever. Oh, to be finally free from the vague, nagging notion in the back of our minds that God is angry and disappointed in us. Yes, He loves us. Yes, He died a horrible death on the cross bearing our sins so that we could spend eternity with Him. He purchased our eternal lives with His very life blood. Is that not love? Of course it is... but still. Isn't He also kind of frustrated with us? After all, in our daily lives, we keep blowing it. We know better, and we still do wrong. Make mistakes. Say the wrong thing. Hurt people. Disappoint ourselves (and surely God, too). Seems like we're always apologizing to somebody. The possibility of ever living up to God's expectations seems utterly hopeless. And so we go through life with an icky, unsettled feeling. We've been told over and over again that God loves us, and we give intellectual assent to this. But deep down in our hearts, how do we really feel about how God feels about us?
I was abused as a child and this book has done more for me than years of therapy and about 50 other books. Perhaps it is because I do have the 5o something years of experience, but this book struck a nerve. If you have always thought about yourself last and as the worst, this is the book for you. You will see why you feel and act the way you do, and how to be good and kind to others but still be fair to yourself. Your top priority is still doing God's work, but you just don't step on yourself all the time you're helping others.
If you are a person of faith, and like Joyce Meyer, this is an ideal choice if you are going through a hard time. Joyce Meyer stresses God is with you, helping you & loves you. She, as always, teaches with conviction, and this is not for those wanting a meek, low key sermon. I bought the 3 CD version, and could not have got through the past year without it. She is a person I need to hear, rather than read. The tone of her unique voice & style doesn't come across in a book in my opinion. She can send a message like no other. If you feel bad things are happening to you because God is mad, she can convince you otherwise. I consider this one of the greatest religious purchases I ever made.
Having been a Spirit filled Christian for all my adult life (I'm a grandma), I needed to read this book as well as listen to Joyce's preaching and teaching. It's not a "pass" for our sins but the explanation of how God can love you as a sinner as well as encourage you to change. I knew God loved me. I knew he had forgiven me (in my head). But there was an empty space in my heart and God used this book to finally close the gap. Now when tempted to disparage myself, I can simply say, "God loves me" and the power of His love is released in my soul and spirit. I thought so much of this book that I ordered several for friends and family! That's how good it is. God bless Joyce Meyer. She is a God send for believers who need to find their way to the victorious life that Christ died for us to have.
I love Joyce Meyer teachings. She is so down to earth and her love for God and her faith are strong. I have read some of her other books, but this one is my favorite. If you read this and apply the teachings into your everyday life, you will notice that you are no longer playing the "blame game" with yourself, the "pity party" is over, and you will feel more positive about the person God created you to be. You don't need to carry that baggage any longer. It's o.k. to release those guilty feelings from past sins and move on with your life. Today is a new day. I've carried guilty feelings for more than 40 years now, but I am finally learning to break free from those chains that once bind me and words cannot begin to describe how this makes me feel physically and spiritually. Thank you Joyce Meyer for saying yes to that calling in your heart to teach God's word everywhere!
Really needed this audio tape from Joyce! It really helped me with some issues I was feeling about the way God must feel about me. I kind of already knew, but I have a terrible habit of feeling guilty, like if I don't do everything perfectly, somehow I'm viewed in a not so favorable light. She has a lot of scripture to back up what she is teaching which is good for me to use to study God's word more deeply. Great book!
Joyce Meyer can dispel misunderstandings the average Christian may have about God in such a clear and relatable way! So many of us, myself included, have misunderstood God to be angry and keeling score, where Meyer gives evidence from the Bible why this is not so and enlightens us to God as He is, certainly not approving of sin but always loving the sinner and desiring us to bask in His love. Thank you to Ms. Meyer for such necessary teaching!
