Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium Classroom in a Book Reviews
I've been an Adobe product user for 25 years, starting with Photoshop 1 and Illustrator 88. I'm an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop, and I use Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Acrobat... on an almost daily basis. I'm also an experienced instructor in all things Adobe.
As an educator, this book was a huge big DISAPPOINTMENT. There are better options out there. The person who wrote this book makes assumptions that the reader knows specifics about certain tools with CS6. For instance, the book walks you through steps, but doesn't exactly tell you why you are executing specific functions. The book doesn't go in a logical order. I would suggest that anyone just skip past this book because it's not even acceptable as a reference material.
It appears there are 2 versions of this book, on comprehensive and one lacking information. I took the comprehensive one out of the school library and thought it was good so I decided to buy it on Amazon, unfortunately what I got was not that book, it was about half the width and missing lots of information. So if you're going to order this online you better be aware of which version you are getting. The complete one, or this skimpy version that seems to be missing half the information that the other book had. Not a happy camper.
I was a little disappointed by this book. It really only includes quite short sections on each of the Design & Web premium packages. The content that is there is very good, easy to follow and well illustrated, but if you are looking to get a bit more in-depth, it would be worth buying the classroom in a book title for the individual software package you are interested in.
This book is more of a marketing demo that teaching anything. If you do not know individual products you will be lost. It also seems like few chapters were written in a hurry because they are missing details (for example where to find used functions).
I prefer books to use as a reference so I can look for information on the section I need. This book walks you thru various sample lessons. This may be great for others but for me personally, it is hard to understand.
